What Is a Behavior Technician?
A Behavior Technician (BT) — also called a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) — is a frontline ABA therapy provider who works directly with children with autism under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This is hands-on, one-on-one work that makes a measurable difference in a child's life every day.
At Jigsaw, Behavior Technicians implement individualized treatment plans, run structured teaching sessions, collect behavioral data, and collaborate daily with supervising BCBAs. No two sessions are exactly alike — this role combines structure with genuine human connection.

No prior ABA experience is required to apply. Many of our best Behavior Technicians came from backgrounds in education, childcare, direct support work, psychology, or sociology. What matters most is genuine care for the children we serve and a willingness to learn.
Career Path: From BT to BCBA
Many Behavior Technicians use this role as a launchpad toward BCBA certification. Jigsaw supports RBTs pursuing BCBA certification by providing supervised fieldwork hours and scheduling flexibility for coursework. BCBAs in our clinic are invested in mentoring the next generation of clinicians.
